Queensland Law Firm
BTLawyers (BTL) is a proudly independent Queensland law firm, working with Queensland businesses and government agencies.
QLD Suppliers
BTL’s primary suppliers (IT, accounting, marketing, independent experts, consultants) are Queensland owned and operated businesses. BTL does not offshore any services and actively pursues relationships with suppliers who do likewise. All staff delivering its client facing services are directly employed with BTL.
QLD Locations
BTL’s head office is in Brisbane with a strong commitment to servicing regional Queensland. Our senior lawyers visit regional centres for work every fortnight. We have clients in every regional centre of Queensland.
QLD Recruitment Practices
BTL actively recruits locally. We are a meritocracy and proudly provide opportunity to the next generation of Queensland legal professionals including work experience opportunities for law students at Queensland universities. Over 15% of our staff are currently studying law and we regularly provide PLT placements for law students.
QLD Partnerships and Charities
We form partnerships with other like-minded Queensland businesses and support local charities and endeavours. We recently partnered with RACQ for a roadshow throughout Queensland providing financial and legal education to women. BTL partners with Children by Choice and has made a number of financial contributions to its programs, including those which assist indigenous women in remote communities.
BTL makes substantial contributions to a number of local charities supporting Queensland families and vulnerable people.
In 2019 we won the QLS Equity and Diversity award. We also provide financial support to the Queensland headquartered LGBTIQ+ networking organisation, Pride in Law.
QLD Pro bono work
BTL has been a signatory to the Australian Pro Bono Centre since 2011. Its pro bono program is primarily focused on providing assistance to victims of domestic violence and those suffering intellectual disability.
Our lawyers continue to regularly provide professional support through unpaid work for a variety of community legal services including Caxton Legal Centre, North Queensland Women’s Legal Service (NQWLS), Women’s Legal Service Queensland and LGBTIQ Legal Service. Stuart Unwin, principal, was recently awarded the Caxton Hall of Fame for his contribution to this community legal service. Our involvement with NQWLS includes pro bono phone support for indigenous women in local communities up to the Torres Strait.
